Orna Feinstein continues to be inspired by the architecture of the organic world and obsessed with exploring materials and processes. While her studio is a wonderland where these inspirations and explorations come to life as artworks, the gallery is the showplace in which the viewer can study and appreciate the layered facets of the resulting one of a kind dimensional monoprints. Treetopia is Orna Feinstein’s second solo show with CAMIBAart and features her newest artworks from three concurrent series.
The most two-dimensional works in the show are part of the Seeds and Seductions series, but don’t be fooled, they are still very layered works. They consist of prints (often of the mono-print variety) on many different materials with hand colored details by the artist.
The largest three-dimensional works of the show are from the Translucentree and Plastrees series. These works consist of black prints on Plexiglas materials that are either heat formed into domes or bent into organic shapes. Combining black lines with deformed and layered Plexiglas results in works alive with never ending Moiré effects.
Presenting these series together in one space provides the viewers a clearer appreciation of the inception of the Treetopia series; the resulting love child of Seeds and Seductions and Plastrees.
Over the last 17 years, in addition to being exhibited extensively throughout her home state of Texas, Orna Feinstein’s artworks have been featured in solo shows in Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Oregon, and Germany and in group exhibits in Denmark, Greece, Italy, Korea, Taiwan, Uruguay, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
This exhibit and it’s events are held in conjunction with Print Austin 2017.
