Consisting of photographs of those living on the streets of Mexico City, the exhibition Soñadores (or Dreamers) aspires to bring attention to this group of unprotected citizens by isolating them from their urban landscape. Most of us encounter people living on the streets every day, however they often fade into their surroundings because we’ve become numb to the sight; we don’t really notice or “see” them. In these photographs, Alba has removed the surrounds and placed the dreamers on visual pedestals so that we are faced with their reality and forced to truly see them. He does this in order to bring awareness and sensitivity to their precarious living conditions, encouraging us to take on a new way of looking at those around us.

Julio Alba hopes that this exhibit will encourage us to reflect and question our role as individuals and as a society.

During this exhibit, the artist and gallery are donating 50% of each sale of Alba’s artworks to the local Austin non-profit Art from the Streets.

Also on view during this exhibit are works by artist from the local non-profit Art From the Streets.

Exhibit runs November 10th, 2018 - January 6th, 2019.Consisting of photographs of those living on the streets of Mexico City, the exhibition Soñadores (or Dreamers) aspires to bring attention to this group of unprotected citizens by isolating them from their urban landscape.
