CAMIBAart is proud to present HYMN TO COLOR, Michel Muylle’s musically inspired current body of work. Artworks in this body share visual DNA with those of the De Stijl movement, such as the asymmetrical gridded works of Piet Mondrian. However, Muylle isn’t limited to primary colors; instead, his works exude a contemporary, subtly sophisticated color palate. Hymn to Color is presented in two suites of works. One suite consist of carefully curated blocks of color presented on aluminum panels with a flawless resin overlay, creating a work that reflects light. The second suite is also made up of curated color blocks, but here they are imbedded in LED lit panels that radiate instead of reflect. The pursuit of color blocks, precisely confined and aligned with perfection, is perhaps a fitting amalgamation of the accidental engineer turned artist.
