In addition to our gallery spaces, CAMIBAart also curates and leads guided art tours locally and around the world with a focus on Latin America. As part of the traveling itinerary for these tours, currently including five international destinations, CAMIBAartTours visits a wide range of museums, public art projects, historical sites, and artist’s studios. This summer, for the first time, we have brought back artworks from just five of the dozens of artist studios we visit each year.
This first annual selective survey features artists based in San Miguel de Allende and Mexico City, with a focus mostly on figurative artwork. This is a unique opportunity for our Austin based patrons to collect work by these artists without having to travel. Participating artists are:
Julio Alba - Mexico City (Statement),
Leonardo Diaz - San Miguel de Allende (Statement),
Roman Eguia - San Miguel de Allende (Statement),
Allejandra Mendoza - San Miguel de Allende (Statement), and
Manuel Mugica - Mexico City (Statement).
In addition to being visually pleasing and technically masterful, the artworks by each of these artists also point to social and/or political issues such as homelessness, political corruption, and social in-equality.
